Talk 1: Dance Wellbeing
Empowering the Dancing Mother (January Low)
16 April, 3-5pm GMT/ 4-6pm BST
ABOUT
January, a mother to three children under the age of 10, believes that life and art need to co-exist in order for the dancing mother to flourish. Leaning into the constant shifting of motherhood she has organically developed a deeper and more mindful relationship with her practice.
"When I first delivered my twins I struggled to come to terms with motherhood and where my dance stood in the bigger scheme of things. However, when I found out that I was pregnant with my third child, I made a conscious effort to use the opportunity to reclaim parts of myself that I felt I had lost and managed to not only bring dance back into my life but create a mindful and sustainable practice alongside raising my 3 children."
In this session January will share all the different aspects of motherhood, pre and post natal. What she did differently, what she had to unlearn, relearn, release and what helped her return to her practice. She will also speak about the importance of mental health and how it is the foundation of self-care, which enables and empowers mothers to hold space for their art.
