Talk 5: Screendance
Choreographing for Camera (Rukmini Vijayakumar)
21 May, 3-5pm GMT/ 4-6pm BST
About
In this talk, I will speak about how thoughts and ideas are conveyed differently in film. Choreography for stage utilises a number of tools that become unavailable in film. Film has other tools that we can utilise effectively to convey certain thoughts and ideas. As choreographers, it is important to see through the eyes of the viewer/ audience member and find their emotive journeys. To make choreography in film effective, it is important to change the way we see dance and movement as choreographic decisions need to be changed to include imagery, and the use of archetypes becomes more important.
